Osteoporosis is a seriously debilitating health issue, especially with an increasing senior population. At one time we might have thought that having a good calcium intake through food or supplementation or both, would be all that was necessary to preserve healthy bone mass.
Research has shown that living bone requires many other nutrients to stay strong. According to the World Health Organization "Many other nutrients and dietary factors may be important for long-term bone health and the prevention of osteoporosis. Among the essential nutrients, plausible hypotheses for involvement with skeletal health, based on
biochemical and metabolic evidence, can be made for zinc, copper, manganese, boron, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, the B vitamins, potassium and sodium (15). Evidence from physiological and clinical studies is largely lacking, and the data are often difficult to interpret because of potential size-confounding or bone remodelling transient effects."

Of course, magnesium and Vitamin D are also extremely important in bone maintenance.

A recent study from the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research 30th Annual Meeting has shown the benefits of supplemental Vitamin C in prevention of hip fractures.
"Basically, people who had higher levels of vitamin C intake had half the rate of hip fractures as people who had the lowest vitamin C [levels]," said Dr. Hannan.(co-author)
"Similarly, people who took supplemental vitamin C again had roughly half the amount of hip fractures as people who did not take any supplemental vitamin C."
Who would have thought that Dr. Linus Pauling's beloved Vitamin C would have such an important role to play in maintaining healthy bones? In an interview, the co-author also mentions the role Vitamin C plays in collagen formation. Collagen supports the structure of the skin, which is made up of about 80% collagen. This is the substance that makes our skin younger looking, stronger and thicker. Is it any wonder that we look as good as we feel when we stay long-term on a quality upplemental program and use a product with a highly absorbable Proteo-C?
When we take a supplement like Usana, we are treating our body to excellent levels of a type of vitamin C that is so absorbable, each and every cell of the body benefits. Stop and add up all that you receive just from the 4 Mega Antioxidants, 1 Poly C and 1Proflavanol 90 a day: 2200 precious milligrams! Then add the benefits of Proteo-C that we apply daily to our skin!
In the past week I was asked by a plastic surgeon if I had had a face lift, she and her office manager could not believe my age. She asked me: what are you doing? You must be doing something to look so much younger than your age.
Believe me, I left her office on wings, thankful that I have been taking my Usana nutritionals and using Sensé for many years; the benefits are paying off big-time!
Thank you Usana, Proteo-C and Poly C for taking care of my inner and outer health!
